Benin: Temporary disruption of traffic on Marina Boulevard
As the festivities marking the 65th anniversary of Benin’s independence approach, adjustments will be made to the traffic on one of the most frequented routes in Cotonou. Starting from Wednesday, June 25, 2025, traffic will be partially modified on the Boulevard de la Marina, at the level of the Amazon esplanade.

The announcement was made by the General Director of the Society for Logistics of Events, Roukiyath Mamah-Djiman, in an official statement. The installation of stands intended for official ceremonies indeed requires a diversion of traffic in this strategic area.
According to the details of the statement, a traffic shift is planned on the left roadway, for vehicles coming from the Autonomous Port of Cotonou. On the right roadway, for those coming from the Novotel.
Thus, this section of the boulevard will be temporarily converted into a two-way lane to allow for traffic continuity. The authorities assure that this reorganization will not impact the other roadways in the city.
On the other hand, large cargo vehicles are not allowed to use this detour. They are asked to take alternate routes during the construction period.
Road users are called on to show vigilance and understanding to allow the smooth progress of the preparations related to the national celebration.
