Atlético Madrid: Ademola Lookman ruled out of the match against Athletic Bilbao
Still sidelined by an adductor injury sustained in the Copa del Rey final, Ademola Lookman will miss hosting Athletic Bilbao. Diego Simeone prefers not to take any risk with his winger, hoping for a return for the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Arsenal.
Atlético Madrid will again have to cope without Ademola Lookman. On the eve of hosting Athletic Bilbao, Diego Simeone confirmed his winger’s unavailability, still dealing with adductor injuries. Injured in the defeat to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey final last weekend, the Nigerian international had already missed the defeat to Elche CF on Tuesday.
A return was hoped for ahead of this meeting with Bilbao, but the Argentine coach dashed expectations in a press conference:
« Ademola Lookman is not yet ready for tomorrow. It’s a good thing we pulled him out in the Copa del Rey final», he said. The 28-year-old is now aiming for a return for the clash against Arsenal FC, scheduled for next week in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.
