Atlético 1 – 1 Arsenal: Modise points out Lookman’s lack of realism
After the draw between Atlético Madrid and Arsenal, Teko Modise criticized Ademola Lookman’s wasteful finishing, guilty of a huge miss. The Nigerian striker will have the chance to redeem himself on the return at the Emirates Stadium.

Teko Modise was not lenient with Ademola Lookman after the 1-1 draw between Atlético Madrid and Arsenal FC (1-1) on Wednesday, in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg. Returning after a brief injury, the Nigerian international played the entire match at the Wanda Metropolitano. But his lack of efficiency in a key moment drew criticism. In the second half, the forward faced the goal, but failed to beat David Raya, who easily repelled his close-range attempt.
After the match, Modise regretted this lack of lucidity: “He could have done better. In this kind of situation, you need more composure.” The former South African captain believes Lookman should have adjusted his shot better to seriously test the goalkeeper. Despite this miss, the winger remains an important part of Atlético Madrid’s setup since his January arrival. With several decisive contributions already in the European campaign, he will have the chance to make amends in the return leg at the Emirates Stadium, where Atlético will be vying for a place in the final.
