Karim Benzema once again stepped up in the Round of 16 clash of the King’s Cup of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night. The French forward scored one of Al-Ittihad’s goals, who beat Al-Nassr 2-1 despite being down to ten men for much of the game.

Benzema opened the scoring as early as the 15th minute, putting his team on track before Angelo Gabriel’s equalizer on the half-hour. But just before the break, Hossam Aouar restored his side’s lead (45+1), a score that Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates, Sadio Mané and João Félix, were never able to overturn despite clear dominance in the second half.

At the final whistle, Benzema savored this crucial win, posting on his social networks a photo of his celebration accompanied by the message: “Big win tonight… Important for the team and our supporters. When we talk, we act.”

Asked after the match, Al-Ittihad’s captain praised the collective performance: “It wasn’t easy to win here because Al-Nassr played very well, but from the first minute we showed our determination. We followed the coach’s instructions and proved that we remain a team capable of beating the best.” With this new goal, Benzema takes his total to four goals in seven matches this season for Al-Ittihad.
