The inspection prioritized the wastewater and rainwater collectors flowing towards the bridges of Hêvié, Womey 1, and Womey 2.

This joint intervention followed a recent visit by Mayor Nathanaël Koty the day after the last heavy rains, during which the elected official committed to finding concrete answers for those affected.

The goal was to accurately determine the causes of the blockages in order to develop urgent solutions for the short and long term.

Immediately, the teams decided to begin the clearing and unblocking of flow beds that were obstructed at several points, often cluttered by acts of incivility.

These emergency works aim to facilitate the evacuation of water towards the Djonou bridge and to protect the riverside homes from the risk of flooding.

Continuation of consultation and call for civic responsibility

To provide sustainable answers to hydraulic issues, a schedule of tripartite meetings has been established between the municipality, SIRAT, and the ABPC to delve deeper into technical studies.

In a statement published on his Facebook account, Mayor Nathanaël Koty urged his constituents to preserve sanitation works: “I finally invite every citizen to make the protection of gutters, collectors, and other drainage infrastructures a collective responsibility. No public effort can be sustainable without the civic-mindedness of each individual.”
