Turkey: Victor Osimhen named Player of the Year

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was named footballer of the year at the 72nd Milliyet Sports Awards, according to Daily Post. Considered one of the most prestigious honors in Turkey, this award crowns a remarkable season for the Nigerian international in Galatasaray’s colors.
A cornerstone of the Istanbul club’s success, Osimhen greatly contributed to the domestic double secured last season. In the league, he scored 26 goals and delivered four assists in 30 appearances. The 27-year-old striker also shone on the European stage with seven goals in the UEFA Europa League, in addition to five goals in the Turkish Cup. In the current campaign, Victor Osimhen confirms his consistency with 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the main architects of Galatasaray’s performances.
