Senegal: 6.75 million FCFA allocated for 306 women trained in Dahra

In Dahra Djoloff, training went beyond just receiving a certificate. On Friday, September 18, 306 women were awarded financing vouchers totaling 6.75 million FCFA, aimed at transforming the skills acquired into income-generating activities.

The presentation was presided over by Idrissa Samb, Senegal’s Minister of Employment and Technical and Vocational Training. This initiative combines his ministry with the Professional Training and Integration Project, implemented in Senegal by the Center for Development Education.

For the beneficiaries, the financial support comes after completing their training. The 6.75 million FCFA is distributed in the form of vouchers intended to support the launch or strengthening of economic activities, according to reports published following the ceremony.

Idrissa Samb urged the participants to direct these resources towards projects capable of generating sustainable income. He also scheduled a follow-up evaluation in one year to assess the use of the funding and the progress of the initiated activities.

Dahra is intended to serve as the first step in a broader support initiative. The ministry aims to expand the program to other areas of Senegal to further connect training, professional integration, and entrepreneurship for women and youth.

The partnership behind this operation has been described as active since 2023 and is planned to continue until 2028. In Dahra, the 306 beneficiaries represent the first group highlighted in this new phase of training followed by direct financial support.
