Porto-Novo: a couple arrested in Houssouko for alleged trafficking of Indian hemp and Tramadol.
An intervention conducted on the evening of Monday, August 17, 2026, by the staff of the 4th arrondissement police station in Porto-Novo led to the dismantling of a domestic network selling psychotropic substances in the Houssouko neighborhood.

The operation was initiated following information indicating the existence of a distribution point for illicit substances at the home of a couple living in the neighborhood.
During the search of the residence, the police discovered and seized a significant quantity of dried plant material believed to be cannabis, as well as several tablets of Tramadol, commonly referred to as “kolo”.
Modus operandi and judicial outcomes
The initial elements of the investigation reveal a division of roles within the household: the partner, working as a motorcycle taxi driver during the day, exploited his professional activity to distribute the goods, while his companion managed, packaged, and stored the stock at home.
Arrested on-site, both individuals were placed in police custody. They will be presented before the public prosecutor as soon as the investigation procedures are completed.
