Parakou: large-scale roundup of a network linked to Qnet
The Borgou Republican Police carried out, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, the arrest of more than sixty people, including seven women, mostly of Nigerian nationality.
They are suspected of belonging to an organized fraud ring linked to the online activity Qnet, according to Fraternité FM.
The security forces launched a major operation in the Ganou district, in the third arrondissement of Parakou, after alerts reporting fraudulent practices. The police uncovered a structured group promising its targets “very well-paid jobs” and online business opportunities, with the promise of quickly accessing significant income and an elevated status.
Behind these promises, investigators say they identified a mechanism of organized fraud. The suspects are alleged to have defrauded several hundred people, taking advantage of aggressive communication and targeted persuasion techniques.
In total, eleven individuals were identified as the main operators of the network. All of those arrested were placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation. Other members, still at large, are being actively sought by the Republican Police.
The operation marks a new step in the fight against online scams and pseudo-commercial schemes that are developing in several cities across the country.
