Mali: B2Gold lowers its gold production forecast at Fekola for 2026
The Fekola gold complex, operated by the Canadian B2Gold, recorded a strong increase in its production in Mali in 2025, with 530,769 ounces extracted, marking a 35% rise. However, the group expects a decline in production in 2026, following a year characterized by the prolonged suspension of activities at Loulo-Gounkoto.

In 2025, the Fekola complex established itself as the leading gold mine in Mali in terms of production. Its performance allowed it to surpass Loulo-Gounkoto, the complex operated by Barrick, whose operations remained halted for a significant part of the fiscal year. This growth has contributed to strengthening Fekola’s presence in B2Gold’s mining activities. The complex comprises the Fekola mine and regional operations developed around the site in southwest Mali.
In its financial report published on August 6, B2Gold indicated that production is expected to decrease in 2026. The Canadian group has revised down its forecasts for Fekola, although the information available in the document did not specify the new expected level.
This anticipated decline comes after a particularly solid operational year in 2025. The production of 530,769 ounces represents a 35% increase compared to the previous fiscal year, making Fekola the main contributor to B2Gold’s gold production in Mali.
The expected decrease in 2026 does not currently question the central role of the complex in the group’s portfolio. However, it reflects less favorable operational prospects compared to those recorded in 2025.
The contrast with Loulo-Gounkoto also impacted the ranking of the main gold producers in the country. The suspension of a significant part of the complex’s activities reduced its contribution during the fiscal year, allowing Fekola to take the top position in the Malian market.
