Legislative and municipal elections 2026: 134 private media outlets selected by HAAC for the official media campaign
The High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC) made public, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the list of private press bodies authorized to participate in the official media campaign for the legislative and municipal elections scheduled for January 11, 2026. A decision that is part of the election preparation and aims to ensure balanced and transparent coverage of the electoral campaign.

SUMMARY
In total, 134 media outlets selected for pluralistic coverage. Decision No. 25-082/HAAC, adopted in plenary, designates these private media outlets divided into four categories:
- 50 radio stations covering all departments of Benin, including community and local stations such as Kandi FM, Radio Mono FM, and CAPP FM in Cotonou.
- 4 television service providers, among them E-Télé, Canal 3 Bénin and Eden TV.
- 50 print press outlets, including flagship titles such as Le Matin Libre, Fraternité, L’Événement Précis, and L’Investigateur du Jour.
- 30 online media outlets, including BENIN WEB TV, 24 Heures au Bénin, Africaho, and Boulevard des Infos.
These media will be tasked with broadcasting the programs and messages of the political parties in the running, in order to allow voters to make an informed choice.
A strict regulatory framework
The selection of media is based on a rigorous legal framework, including the Organic Law on the HAAC, the Information and Communication Code, and the Beninese Electoral Code. This HAAC initiative is part of an effort to strengthen transparency and fairness in the electoral process. By involving a diversity of media, the regulatory institution intends to provide a platform to all political actors while guaranteeing citizens equitable access to information.
