The shock remains deep and the pain is still raw. Interviewed by RTI following the death of his partner, Tolah Élise, the victim’s companion gave a heartbreaking account of the circumstances of the accident that took her life on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

According to his account, everything changed a few hours after a simple exchange of messages. “At 11:52, she left me a small message,” he shared. Nothing hinted at the tragedy that was to follow.

It was only at 3 pm that a call from an unknown number altered the course of his day. On the other end of the line, a voice told him that Élise had been in an accident. On the scene, behind the pharmacy of the 8th tranche at Cocovico, he found a seriously injured woman, in a desperate struggle against death.

Relentless efforts, a battle lost from the start?

“She was supposed to be operated on immediately,” he explains. The medical staff hustle, take her to the operating room from 6:30 pm to 10 pm, but the prognosis is alarming as her liver has been injured with massive internal bleeding.

All through the night, the doctors attempt the impossible. Seven bags of blood are injected, but to no avail. “She was unable to clot,” reveals the partner. He compares the transfusion to a “leaking bag”. At dawn, he briefly saw her again behind the windows of a porthole.

“I touched her, she was cold…”, he says with a lump in his throat. Shortly after, the doctors confirm the failure of the medical efforts. “They couldn’t save her,” they finally tell him before allowing him to see her lifeless body before removal.

Molare’s commitment and lingering questions

On scene, artist Molare’s team is in turmoil. Molare, himself injured in the accident, reportedly told him that he lost control of his car due to a mechanical failure. He would have proposed a joint evacuation to another clinic, but Elise’s critical condition did not allow for it.

According to the companion, Molare committed to doing “everything, everything humanly possible” to support her care. When asked about the state of his wife before the accident, the man confirmed that his “wife was not pregnant”.
