Ivory Coast: PDCI spokesperson Brédoumy Soumaïla summoned to Police Headquarters

- Publicité-

The spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI-RDA), Brédoumy Soumaïla, has been summoned to appear at the Abidjan Police Headquarters on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11 a.m., according to an official notice issued by Commissioner Coulibaly Yao of the General Investigations Service.

The hearing will take place on the road to Abobo, near the FILTISAC and MOTORAGRI companies. The notice specifies that Mr. Soumaïla must appear with legal counsel, in accordance with Article 90 of the new Criminal Procedure Code.

While the reasons for the summons have not been disclosed, it comes amid a tense political climate following the controversy surrounding the removal of PDCI-RDA President Tidjane Thiam from the electoral roll—a decision that has reignited debate over his Ivorian nationality.

Just a few days earlier, Brédoumy Soumaïla had delivered a strong statement on behalf of the party, denouncing what he called “judicial harassment” and calling for a nationwide mobilization starting May 2 if the decision against Tidjane Thiam was not overturned. “Ivorians must rise up against this silent dictatorship,” he declared.
