“I am satisfied and I hope that the procedures will be carried through to the end,” Hugues Sossoukpè

Invited to the set of the private channel E-Télé this Sunday, July 13, 2025, the adviser minister Sèdami Fagla discussed forthrightly the case of Comlan Hugues Sossoukpè, a file that has been shaking the media and political scene for more than 72 hours.

Interrogated by the journalist Angèle Toboula, Sèdami Fagla openly expressed her satisfaction with the announcement of the interrogation of the activist and journalist, whom she unequivocally describes as a “pseudo activist”.

“Just like you and all Beninese people, I learned with satisfaction that the pseudo activist – I call him this because for me, he is more of a collaborator, a collabo, as we say – has been questioned. As a Beninese citizen, who is passionate about security and stability for our country, I am satisfied and I hope that the procedures will go all the way,” she declared.

Beyond this personal reaction, Ms. Fagla justified her position by facts she considers as very serious. According to her, the actions of Hugues Comlan Sossoukpè would no longer be just simple activism, but a compromising position with the enemies of Benin.

“This man, for a while, we could still think that he was expressing a partisan commitment. But when he began to live stream terrorist attacks on his Facebook page, to comment on them, to downplay them, or even to implicitly support them, this is no longer called journalism. This is clearly endorsing terrorism”, she affirmed.

The adviser minister speaks out here as a citizen concerned with national security issues. She concludes her comments with the unmistakable statement: “He has crossed the Rubicon.”
