The tragic death of Diogo Jota continues to provoke reactions across the globe. Last to mourn this premature loss is Al Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Tributes have been pouring in since the announcement of Diogo Jota’s death, both from the football world and from fans, united in honoring the memory of an exemplary player on and off the field.
On his social networks, Cristiano Ronaldo has also reacted to this premature departure of his national team teammate. Still in shock, the captain of Al Nassr has paid a beautiful tribute to the 28-year-old player.
“It makes no sense. We were together in the national team, and then you got married. To your family, to your wife and your children, I offer my condolences and I wish them all the courage in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace, Diogo and André. You will be missed by all of us,” he posted on his X account.
Diogo Jota lost his life in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, along with his brother André in an accident that occurred in the province of Zamora, in northwest Spain. The forward was on vacation, a few weeks away from the start of the 2025-2026 season.
This tragedy comes less than two weeks after his wedding to his longtime companion, Rute Cardoso, which took place in Porto. The couple had three children.
Arriving at Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton, Diogo Jota quickly established himself as a key element of the Reds’ attack. He was still part of the squad that won the Premier League last season, under the guidance of the new coach Arne Slot.
