The plane carrying the Cameroonian delegation landed early in the afternoon on the airport tarmac. Upon its arrival, the aircraft was greeted by the traditional firefighter salute, performed under the water jets of two trucks.

The players then received a rose as they disembarked, before the national anthem was played in their honor. Forward Rose Bella hailed the welcome given to the team: “The joy is immense! We are dazzled by the welcome and the encouragement from the public!”

Midfielder Toko Njoya also expressed her emotions in front of the popular mobilization. “Seeing so many Cameroonians shows that we are supported, maybe not always up close, but at least from afar,” she stated.

It took the delegation several minutes to cross the airport, as supporters, family, and strangers tried to approach the champions and their trophy. The crowd came to celebrate a long-awaited victory for Cameroonian women’s football.

Cameroon won the final of the 2026 Women’s AFCON with a score of 3-0 against Malawi in Morocco. This success marks the first continental crown for the Indomitable Lionesses.
