Burkina Faso: “We are fighting for our independence”, Ibrahim Traoré

On a cross-country tour, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, reaffirmed his opposition to Western powers.

We are no longer fighting a war against terrorism, but a battle for our independence”, declared Captain Ibrahim Traoré during a visit to the Plateau Central region, some forty kilometers from Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

In front of a crowd of supporters, he emphasized the country’s struggle for emancipation, claiming that imperialist forces are seeking to curb Africa’s development, not least because of the economic consequences this would bring, such as unemployment.

“Every time we create an industrial unit here, it means job losses for imperialism. For example, if we develop a sesame processing industry, it reduces opportunities elsewhere,” explained Captain Traoré.

In his view, foreign powers are sowing chaos to exploit African resources. He pointed out that several Western countries, while not possessing large gold reserves, do hold large quantities. ” They fuel unrest, plunder and appropriate our wealth,” he declared.

“Our mission is to free ourselves (…). Burkina will become something they could never have imagined,” concluded the Head of State.
