Benin: the six MPs who resigned from the LD party met with Djogbénou and Bio Tchané
Lines are shifting on the Beninese political scene. The six MPs who resigned from the party Les Démocrates were received on Thursday, November 13, 2025, by Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, president of the Bloc Républicain (BR), and Joseph Djogbénou, president of the Union Progressiste le Renouveau (UP-R).

The meeting, held at the BR headquarters in Cotonou, formalizes a rapprochement now openly embraced with the presidential camp.
The MPs concerned: Adjovi Chantal, Do-Rego Léansou, Joël Godonou, Denise Hounmenou, Constant Nahum and Patrick Djivo are thus beginning the process of their political integration into the two major parties supporting President Patrice Talon.
According to Patrick Djivo, the group’s spokesperson, this meeting aimed to “establish the prerequisites” for future collaboration.
“We had a very rewarding session. It was necessary to lay the groundwork and I think it went well. We’re off to a good start,” he said.
He specified that the discussions focused on his group’s “political aspirations” and “immediate concerns”, adding that these were “taken into account in a spirit of symbiosis and trust”.
This rapprochement comes in a context marked by President Talon’s recent outreach, in which he called for reconciliation and transcending party lines.
Beyond the symbolism, this meeting reflects an ongoing reshaping of the political landscape a few months before the 2026 legislative elections.
