Benin: SIRAT announces the temporary closure of Boulevard Saint-Michel in Cotonou
Boulevard Saint-Michel in Cotonou will be closed to traffic starting 1 December 2025.

This decision is part of the sanitation works planned along this route. The affected area stretches between the Bourse du Travail and Pharmacie Camp Guézo. The works involve rehabilitating the roadway and rebuilding a section of Collector L, a strategic structure for rainwater drainage. They will continue until March 2026.
The worksite will begin with the complete closure of the Bourse du Travail intersection. This first phase will last from 1 December 2025 to 18 January 2026. During this period, vehicles coming from Zongo will have to detour via the RIMBO bus station. Those arriving from Vodjè will use Majestic Gbégamey before reaching the Codiam intersection. No crossing will be possible at the intersection.
The second phase will begin on 19 January 2026 and end on 15 March 2026. The section between the Bourse du Travail and Pharmacie Camp Guézo will be completely blocked in both directions. The Bourse du Travail intersection will reopen to traffic, but the detours will remain in place in the same directions as during the first phase.
Drivers coming from Zongo will continue to pass through the RIMBO bus station. Those traveling in the opposite direction will keep the same diversion routes.
SIRAT SA indicates that access to homes and businesses will remain possible despite the closures. The company urges drivers to be cautious and to respect the temporary signage installed throughout the worksite.
These works are expected to provide lasting improvements to traffic and to reinforce drainage capacity in this part of the city.
