Benin: head of the Republican Guard promoted to Colonel-Major

- Publicité-

In Benin, the head of the Republican Guard, Colonel Dieudonné Djimon Tévoédjrè, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel-Major by presidential decree dated March 26, 2025. The decision, effective as of April 1, was co-signed by the ministers responsible for Economy and Defense, in accordance with applicable regulations.

The promotion, approved during the Council of Ministers held on the same day, is part of the statutory advancement of officers in the Beninese Armed Forces for the year 2025. It follows a recommendation made by the Minister Delegate to the President of the Republic in charge of National Defense.

Colonel-Major Tévoédjrè currently heads the Republican Guard, the unit responsible for the close protection of President Patrice Talon and members of the government. He thus becomes one of the highest-ranking officers in this strategic branch of Benin’s security apparatus.

This promotion is part of a broader series of advancements within the Beninese Armed Forces. Several dozen officers were promoted during this ministerial session, based on seniority, merit, or discretionary decisions, as part of the country’s gradual military leadership renewal.
