On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Landry Bignon Delcoz Kindjanhoundé was placed under a remand order after his appearance before the special prosecutor of the Court for the Repression of Economic Offenses and Terrorism.

The police officer, then serving as deputy chief of the Dantokpa market police station under construction in Akassato, was arrested on December 9 following the circulation of a viral video in which he called for the overthrow of the government.

In that footage published on December 8, 2025, the day after the attempted coup, he urged rebellion against the established authority and accused the head of state of colluding with armed groups.

After seven days in custody, Kindjanhoundé was brought before the CRIET prosecutor’s office where he was subjected to the criminal procedures applicable to such cases. At the end of his hearing and his appearance before the judge overseeing detention hearings, a remand order was issued against him.

He is being prosecuted for incitement to rebellion and undermining the authority of the State, serious charges given the current political context in Benin.
