A reckless driver was arrested by the Republican police after causing the death of several people on the night of Sunday March 23, 2025.

According to Les4Vérités, the man hit several pedestrians in Cotonou and Abomey-Calavi before attempting to flee. According to witnesses, the driver was driving at high speed, knocking down several victims as he went.

Faced with repeated incidents, vigilant citizens raised the alarm and succeeded in intercepting the vehicle at the IITA crossroads. The individual was violently taken to task before being handed over to the police.

A disturbing discovery in the vehicle

When they searched the vehicle, the police found several license plates, including one belonging to Benin customs and another of Togolese origin. This discovery raises many questions as to the real identity of the driver and his motives.
