This is what the Director General of Elections, Boucary Abou Soulé Adam, hinted during his intervention this Sunday, June 29, on the show “90 minutes to convince” broadcasted on Radio Benin.

A sponsorship software is being finalised

Aware of the controversies that surrounded the question of sponsorship of candidates in the 2021 presidential election, the DGE announced the implementation of secure software, designed to trace, authenticate, and validate each act of sponsorship. This new digital tool, currently being finalized, is expected to be operational in the coming weeks.

According to information relayed by Kpakpato Media, the software aims to prevent any attempt at manipulation, to ensure complete traceability of sponsorships, and to avoid cases of duplication or falsification. An innovation that is part of a desire to strengthen the transparency of the electoral process.

To support this change, CENA plans to organize training and awareness sessions for the elected officials concerned by the sponsorship. The goal: to enable them to understand the operation of the software and to avoid any misuse or misunderstanding of the system.

This initiative demonstrates increased commitment from the electoral authorities to make the 2026 elections a pivotal stage, marked by modernized electoral governance, where the integrity of the process will no longer be in doubt.

The ball is now in the court of elected officials and political parties, who will have to play their role responsibly, in an increasingly rigorous institutional framework.
