Scoring twice against France, Lamine Yamal immediately turned his attention to the UEFA Nations League final, where Spain will face Portugal this Sunday. And the Roja winger sent a strong message to Cristiano Ronaldo.
La Roja secured their spot in the final by overcoming the French in a spectacular match (5-4) held Thursday evening at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. The young FC Barcelona prodigy, Lamine Yamal, was one of the key players in Spain’s victory with two decisive goals.
“France is a great team. They push you to your limits until the last minute, it’s normal with players of this level. But we are very happy with this victory,” Yamal told RTVE.
Spain will meet Portugal, who defeated Germany (2-1) in the semi-final, for a much-anticipated Iberian clash. “It will be a match at the same level as the one against France, with more world-class players on each side. We are two great teams and I really hope the trophy will return to Spain,” added the 17-year-old player.
When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored against the Mannschaft, the Spanish winger didn’t seem fazed by the tireless captain of the Seleçao: “We all respect Cristiano, he’s a football legend, but I’ll do my job, which is to win.” Remember, the Portugal-Spain final is scheduled for this Sunday at 8 PM (GMT+1).
