Michael Carrick suggested that Marcus Rashford might still have a future at Manchester United. The Red Devils’ coach particularly believes that the English forward has a different profile compared to the other attacking players in his squad. Speaking to ITV Sport after Manchester United’s victory over Leeds on penalties, Wednesday, during a friendly match held at Croke Park, Carrick was open regarding Rashford’s situation.
At 28 years old, the English international did not participate in this match. He only resumed training a few days prior and still needs to gradually regain his rhythm. “He is our player. He is back in great shape, like any other player. I’ve known him for a long time, he brings us something a bit different,” Carrick stated. The Manchester manager also highlighted the positive mindset that Rashford has shown since his return to training. “He’s been in a really good mood since he came back. He returned two or three days ago,” he added.
These statements could reignite questions about Rashford’s future, as the English forward has frequently been rumored to be leaving in recent months. For Carrick, the door certainly seems far from being firmly closed.
