After twelve faithful and successful seasons wearing the Real Madrid shirt, Luka Modric has turned the page. The Croatian international is leaving Casa Blanca for a new destination after the merengue club decided not to renew his contract at the end of the last season.

The Croat’s departure comes after Real Madrid’s elimination in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup, crushed 4-0 by PSG on Wednesday night. Indeed, it was during this match that Modric played his last game in the Madrid colors.

Having arrived in 2012 from Tottenham, the 39-year-old player leaves Casa Blanca with an impressive track record: six Champions Leagues, three Liga, two Copa del Rey, five Club World Cups, among others.

When asked by Real Madrid TV how he would like to be remembered by Madrid fans, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner humbly said: “I’ve never really thought about how I wanted to be remembered. But if people remember something about me, I’d like it to be the image of a good man, first and foremost. And a player who always gave his all. Who respected his teammates, his opponents, the fans… A player who gave everything for Real Madrid.”

Luka Modric will now join AC Milan, where he hopes to bring his experience and write one last chapter worthy of his legend.
