Police spokesman Michael Muchiri confirmed that the assault occurred at around 5:30 a.m. local time at a National Reserve Police camp in Biyamadhow. He added that police and security reinforcements had been deployed in the area to track down the attackers.

The Kenyan reserve police, an auxiliary force, assists the regular police in maintaining order, particularly in rural areas, by combating cattle rustling and armed banditry.

According to the authorities, the assailants stormed the camp, attacking victims with knives or bullets before looting the premises and fleeing. “The security forces, led by the anti-terrorist unit, are investigating the incident. Progress is expected,” the police said in a report.
