Former President of the Constitutional Council of the Ivory Coast, Mamadou Koné, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, in the capital, Abidjan.

The Ivorian judicial world mourns the sad news of the death of Mamadou Koné, who was the president of the Constitutional Council of Ivory Coast. On Monday, April 8, 2024, he left us at the age of 72 in the city of Abidjan, his departure was due to an illness.

Mamadou Koné was a pillar of justice in Ivory Coast, having served as president of the Constitutional Council from 2015 to 2023, as well as a prominent member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. His distinguished career also included several ministerial positions and significant responsibilities at the heart of the government.

His death marks the end of an era and leaves a considerable void in the country’s judiciary sector. “Ivory Coast loses a great public servant who has served the Nation in various positions of responsibility, notably at the head of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Council. I extend my sincere condolences to his family, his wife, and his children,” reacted Alain Lobgnon, who had worked under his orders at the National Commission for Identification Supervision.

His passing marks the end of an era and leaves a considerable void in the judiciary sector of the country.
