The defeat against Spain in the 2026 World Cup final continues to leave its mark on Argentina. Beaten 1-0 after extra time, the Albiceleste was involved in scuffles after the final whistle. FIFA has now made its decision. Considered one of the main protagonists of the incidents, Leandro Paredes is suspended for ten matches and will have to pay a fine of €77,000.

Nahuel Molina receives a seven-match suspension and the same financial penalty. Thiago Almada and Pablo Martín Páez are each suspended for one match and fined €25,000. Roberto Ayala, a member of Lionel Scaloni’s staff, will also observe a three-match suspension and pay €25,000.

The Argentine Federation will have to pay a fine of around €274,000. It is notably sanctioned for failures related to the team’s behavior, security, and discriminatory acts by supporters. Argentina will also have to play its next two home matches in front of a reduced capacity of 50%. However, part of the sanction is suspended. The different parties now have ten days to appeal.
