Christine Taylor has revealed that she was the victim of an armed carjacking in broad daylight in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. The actress explained that the incident, which occurred while she was with comedian David Pressman, left her with lasting feelings of fear.

During an appearance on the podcast We’re Still Here, Babe, Christine Taylor shared that she was living with David Pressman at the time. According to her account, they had just parked their car near Detroit Street and Beverly Boulevard when a vehicle slowed down in front of them around 3:00 pm.

A man reportedly exited the passenger seat with a gun, ordered David Pressman to stay on the sidewalk, and then demanded the keys from the actress. As the steering wheel was protected by a lock, Christine Taylor said she had to return to the car to remove it before handing over the vehicle and her bag.

The episode lasted less than two minutes. Christine Taylor noted that she and her roommate were not injured, but she described a moment when time seemed to stand still.

The actress from Dodgeball explained that she did not seek therapy at the time. She later realized that the incident continued to affect her physical reactions: seeing someone approach a car could freeze her in place.

A few days after the carjacking, Christine Taylor landed a role in the horror film Night of the Demons 2. She now describes that shoot, filled with scenes of fear and screams, as an initial way to channel what she had just experienced.
