Benin: Sounon Boké Soumaïla withdraws his resignation from LD
Less than twenty-four hours after announcing his resignation from the party Les Démocrates (LD), MP Sounon Boké Soumaïla has ultimately decided to stay.

He announced it in a new video released on Sunday, November 16. In this statement, the Banikoara representative explains that his initial decision was prompted by internal tensions in his local constituency. He stressed that his resignation « had nothing to do » with the vote on the constitutional revision.
« I’m not one of the 11 people chosen by the party for the vote…. », he says.
Sounon Boké Soumaïla also congratulates the eleven party representatives chosen to take part in the constitutional ballot: « They performed their role brilliantly », he says.
He justifies his decision to remain within LD by arguing that his personal convictions are still in line with the party’s ideals: « The party’s ideals align with my convictions », he says.
Finally, he reassures the activists. Honorable Soumaïla « remains a member of the party team » and calls to keep « the flame of hope » lit by former president Boni Yayi, a symbol of their shared democratic commitment.
