Benin: a governance agreement announced between Le Libéral and one of the 2 factions of the movement
The Liberal party is gearing up to sign a governance agreement with one of the major groups in the presidential majority.

SUMMARY
This is what Sèmèvo Mon Désir Amadidje, Deputy General Secretary of the party, hinted at during his appearance on Actu Matin on Canal 3 Benin, this Thursday, June 26.
According to the political official’s remarks, the final choice will be made between two major groups in the presidential movement: The Republican Bloc (BR), and the Progressive Union for Renewal (UP-R).
This partnership aims to create a collaboration platform in view of the 2026 electoral deadlines, especially the presidential one. For The Liberal, this alliance will be the lever to weigh more heavily in future political and institutional decisions.
A positioning strategy before 2026
With this announcement, The Liberal is initiating a clear positioning strategy, halfway between local anchoring and national projection. The choice of the presidential movement is part of a tactical alignment logic as we approach a major electoral cycle.
If the agreement is finalized, it could redistribute some cards within the movement itself. The UP-R and the BR, already weakened by internal tensions and a wave of resignations, especially in Porto-Novo, might see this support as a breath of fresh air or, on the contrary, a new balance to negotiate.
