In the wake of the tense encounter between Real Madrid and Benfica, UEFA has broken its silence. In a statement, the European governing body says that the official reports related to the matches played on Tuesday night are currently being analyzed.
If breaches of the regulations are confirmed, a disciplinary procedure will be opened, in accordance with the applicable rules. UEFA also specifies that any potential sanction would be made public via its official disciplinary portal.
However, no further communication will be made at this stage. The body remains cautious and hints that the case involving Gianluca Prestianni and Vinicius Jr remains under review. A measured stance, while waiting for the examined elements to establish potential responsibilities and to rule on potential sanctions.
