Benfica: Mourinho keeps his future unclear.
Under contract until 2027 with Benfica, José Mourinho says he could continue the journey… provided that the club expresses its desire.

The future of José Mourinho at Benfica remains uncertain. Despite a contract running until 2027, the Portuguese coach, reported to be leaving as the summer transfer window approaches, did not wish to comment on his personal situation. On the day after the 2-0 victory over Nacional, the 63-year-old coach clarified his position, insisting that his future depended above all on the will of the club’s leaders. “Everything depends on the club’s wishes.”, he explained, showing himself particularly measured. “My desire to stay is not conditioned by anything. It does not depend on a specific investment in the squad.”
A declaration that illustrates Mourinho’s wait-and-see stance, far from any personal demands. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach thus leaves the decision to his club’s leadership to decide. Note that his contract includes a clause allowing both parties to terminate their collaboration as early as May, which fuels further speculation about his future. In a context of uncertainty, Benfica will need to quickly clarify its position if it wishes to stay on a path of continuity… or open a new cycle.
