Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Marcus Rashford to compensate for the announced departure of Gabriel Martinelli. According to The Telegraph, the Gunners are seriously studying the possibility of recruiting the Manchester United striker. Martinelli is indeed getting closer to leaving London. The Brazilian winger has reportedly agreed to join Al-Hilal, after initially declining an offer from Galatasaray. His transfer is expected to earn Arsenal more than £50million, which would be a record sale for the club.
This situation would nevertheless have raised some questions internally. Still according to the British daily, some members of the club would be surprised that Martinelli was authorized to leave when no replacement had yet been recruited for his position. In this context, Marcus Rashford appears to be a preferred route for London management. The England international could offer an immediately operational solution on the offensive front and allow Mikel Arteta to maintain a competitive offensive sector.
Arsenal must now accelerate their efforts to avoid finding themselves weakened as the end of the transfer window approaches. The Rashford file could quickly become one of the Gunners’ priorities.
