AC Milan: “I wanted to stay in Europe…”, Luka Modric justifies his choice
New recruit to AC Milan, Luka Modric, has spoken about the reasons that drove him to join the Rossoneri after his departure from Real Madrid.

Luka Modric will be playing in Italy next season. The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder has signed for one season with the Lombard club and will wear the number 14. He arrives free, after the end of his contract with Real Madrid, a club he left after being eliminated in the Club World Cup.
When asked about his choice, the Croatian legend said he wanted to stay on the old continent. “Why AC Milan? I wanted to stay in Europe and keep playing at the highest level“, Modric declared this Wednesday to his new club’s television channel.
The former Ballon d’Or winner also revealed he was won over by the Milanese club’s approach: “I received other offers, but when Milan showed up, it was a no-brainer. Their management traveled to Croatia to present me their project. That touched me a lot.“
And to conclude: “AC Milan is one of the most prestigious clubs in Europe. I am proud to be a part of it.” Modric is expected to make his debut in his new colors during the preseason friendly match against Arsenal, scheduled for next Wednesday.
