Almok, real name Afi Edem Komla, a famous Togolese artist known for her mix of traditional rhythms, RnB, and Afro-pop, issued a warning on social media this Monday, June 23, 2025.
In a poignant video shared with her fans, the singer Almok revealed that her life, as well as the lives of her husband and children, are currently in danger.
“Hello my loves, I hope you are well. My die-hard fans, this is the voice, the face, and the smile of Al Mok. I am in danger, my life is in danger, my children’s lives, my husband’s life is in danger”, she declared, visibly upset.
An attempt at kidnapping
The singer, unveiled to the public in 2011 with the song “Marriage” from her first album “My Ideal” released in 2012, claims that for some time, she has been followed in the city by suspicious individuals. The situation reached a critical point when, according to her, people armed with bladed weapons penetrated her shop, an attack filmed and the video of which is currently circulating on social media.
“The video currently circulating, in which you see a young man going into a lady’s shop to harm her with bladed weapons, that happened in my boutique”, she clarified. She added that since renting this boutique in 2019, she had never encountered such incidents.
Almok calls for the solidarity of her fans, the diaspora, and everyone who follows her. “I have to tell you that my life is in danger. Please turn your attention to me. Share this video as much as possible. You have the duty, even the obligation, please”, she pleaded.
The artist, one of the emblematic figures of modern Togolese music, hopes that this call will be heard and widely relayed to alert the authorities and public opinion about the threats to her and her family.
