2026 presidential election: the BUS platform engages with student leaders.
The National Coordinator of the Benin Uni and Solidarity Platform (BUS) received this Friday morning the leaders of three student organizations. A meeting devoted to presenting the platform’s objectives and to mobilizing the student youth around the candidacy of Romuald Wadagni and Mariam Chabi Talata ahead of the April 2026 presidential election.
The Benin Uni and Solidarity Platform (BUS) continues its work of anchoring itself among the different components of society. On Friday morning, its national coordinator, Christian Yenoussi, welcomed a delegation of leaders from the main student unions of the University of Abomey-Calavi. The meeting brought together Malius Gbegnon, president of the National Union of Students of Benin (UNEB), Oladélé Yenou, leader of the National Union of Schoolchildren and Students of Benin (UNSEB), as well as Christian Fiacre Avocès, secretary-general of the National Federation of Benin Students (FNEB).

At the heart of the exchanges: the presentation of the mission and ambitions of the Benin Uni and Solidarity platform, which seeks to strengthen its on-the-ground presence and mobilize different actors around its initiatives. At the end of the discussions, the student representatives expressed their willingness to accompany the platform’s leaders in their awareness-raising actions, notably within the student community. According to them, a large portion of Beninese students has not yet participated in a ballot, hence the importance of encouraging their involvement in civic life.

This approach is aimed in particular at strengthening the mobilization of the student youth around the candidacy of Romuald Wadagni and Mariam Chabi Talata ahead of the April 2026 presidential election. With this new dynamic of collaboration with student organizations, the BUS platform intends to further consolidate its presence and influence within Beninese youth.
