UCL: “They can do it,” Senderos warns Arsenal ahead of clash with Real Madrid

Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has warned his former club about the threat posed by Real Madrid ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg clash on Wednesday night.

In the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners secured a dominant 3–0 victory. Declan Rice scored twice from free kicks, and Mikel Merino added a stunning goal, boosting Arsenal’s hopes of reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009.

But according to Senderos, the tie is far from over. The former Swiss international believes Real Madrid are still capable of turning things around.

“Madrid is a great team, full of champions and with an unmatched history. The result is very unfavorable, but I think they can do a lot of damage if they get things right,” he told AS.

“Maybe—but with Madrid’s stars, anything is possible. They have impressive qualities, and if there’s one thing we know, it’s that at their stadium, with their fans, they won’t give up as long as there’s a chance to go through. The crowd will drive them on, and an early goal could change everything. They’re capable,” he added.

Ahead of the match, several of Real Madrid’s stars have shared messages expressing their determination to fight for qualification and warning Arsenal that they’re not done yet.
