Murder of Rob Reiner: his son Nick taken into custody
Nick Reiner, the son of Rob Reiner, was arrested and taken into custody in connection with the tragic death of his parents Rob and Michelle Singer Reiner.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrest and charging of Nick Reiner (32), suspected of fatally stabbing his parents, director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, at their Brentwood home, an upscale neighborhood in the west of the city. Arrested a few hours after the bodies were found, the couple’s son was taken into custody and charged with two counts of murder, according to Police Chief Jim McDonnell.
Authorities have not yet released forensic details, but several media outlets mention stab wounds. The investigation is focusing in particular on a family argument that took place the night before, during a social event in Hollywood. TMZ reports that the bodies were reportedly discovered by their daughter, who alerted the police.
This tragedy has shaken Hollywood and prompted a wave of tributes to Rob Reiner, a major figure in American cinema, director of cult films like Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men.
