“Madrid is still my city,” Karim Benzema doesn’t rule out a return to Real Madrid
In an interview with the daily AS, Karim Benzema reignited the hopes of Madrid fans by mentioning the possibility of a return to Real Madrid.

Al-Ittihad forward Karim Benzema left open the possibility of a return to Real Madrid. He left on a free transfer in July 2023 to join the Saudi Pro League, and the former Madrid captain has never hidden his deep attachment to the club where he spent fourteen seasons, notably winning the Ballon d’Or and a multitude of major trophies.
In an interview with the daily AS, the French international admitted he would find it hard to turn down a potential approach from the Merengue club, especially if it came directly from its president, Florentino Pérez.
“If Florentino is still there, it could happen “, Benzema said. “We talked, and yes, it’s possible. I’m a Real Madrid fan, I feel it deep inside me. Madrid is still my city, I feel Madrilenian.” The 36-year-old forward is under contract with Al-Ittihad until June 2026, but he clearly does not rule out a final chapter with the club that defined his career.
