“I could score 100 goals and still not win it,” Harry Kane on the Ballon d’Or
The Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane, believes that only the conquest of trophies like the Champions League or the World Cup will allow him — as Erling Haaland did — to genuinely target the Ballon d’Or.

The Bayern Munich striker, Harry Kane, acknowledges that his pursuit of the Ballon d’Or will inevitably involve winning major titles. Speaking to the Mirror, the England captain admitted that a trophy like the Champions League or the World Cup remains essential to contend for the most prestigious individual award.
According to him, this observation also applies to his direct rival, Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s marksman.
“I could score 100 goals this season, but without the Champions League or the World Cup, I probably won’t win the Ballon d’Or. It’s the same for Haaland or any player: you have to win the big trophies,” Kane said.
Already listed among the contenders for the 2025 edition, the England international is enjoying a sparkling start to the campaign, totalling 13 goals in the Bundesliga and five in the Champions League. The Three Lions, flawless in qualifying, also secured their ticket to the 2026 World Cup by winning all their matches without conceding a single goal.
