FC St. Pauli: the verdict is in for Andréas Hountondji
FC St. Pauli provided an update on Andréas Hountondji, who was hurt in the thigh this weekend in the Bundesliga. And the German club said the Beninese international is suffering from a minor thigh muscle injury.

A starter this weekend in the showdown against Bayern Munich, ultimately won by the Bavarians (3-1), Andréas Hountondji didn’t play the whole match. The Beninese international, who opened the scoring, had to be substituted before the end of the game after a clash with Jonathan Tah. A heavy blow that required an MRI to determine the exact nature of the Cheetah’s injury, as his coach Alexander Blessin said in the post-match press conference.
The test results, released this Tuesday, are reassuring: the injury is minor. Already ruled out for the trip to Mönchengladbach this Tuesday evening for the 13th matchday, the Cheetah shouldn’t be kept off the pitch for long. The club’s medical staff hope for a return by December 13.
Positive news also for Gernot Rohr and the Benin national team, who should be able to count on their striker for AFCON 2025 in Morocco (21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026). Drawn in Group D, Benin will face Botswana, the DRC and Senegal in the first round.
