The Celestial Church of Christ has taken a major step in its journey towards unity. From June 12 to 14, 2025, the second session of the Superior Transition Council (STC) was held in Cotonou, with delegates from 12 countries in Africa, Europe, and America. President Patrice Talon honored the event with his presence as a guest of honor.
Led by the Supreme Venerable Evangelist Bertin Bada, this session is part of a dynamic of peace, reconciliation and reconstruction. The rapporteur general, Marcellin Zannou, praised the mobilization and emphasized the need to rebuild the unity of the Church.
Three commissions were in place to conduct a structured reform process. The first committee, called: Constitution and Governance, will tackle the fundamental texts of 1980 and 2008. The goal is to carry out an institutional overhaul of the Celestial Christianity.
The second committee, Rites and Liturgy Committee, will invest in the harmonization of worship practices. It will propose a schedule with: 7 daily prayers, regular worship services, three major celebrations: Church’s anniversary (Sept 29), pilgrimage to Imeko (Oct 19), Nativity (Dec 24-25). There is also the ongoing development of a common liturgical manual.
The third committee will focus on institutional and financial reforms. It aims for modern, transparent, and inclusive management of the reunified Church.
It should be noted that the next session of the STC is scheduled for July 22, 2025, to continue discussions and refine the proposals arising from the committees.
