Real Madrid could boycott Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against FC Barcelona, according to Marca.

The Casa Blanca has described comments made by officials following an interview with Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, the referee appointed for the match, as “unacceptable.”

Burgos Bengoetxea broke down in tears during a press conference after being questioned about Real Madrid TV broadcasts criticizing referees.

Real Madrid’s television channel had suggested that Barcelona won more matches than the Merengues when Burgos Bengoetxea officiated.

The Merengues reportedly view the situation as an injustice that “can no longer be tolerated” and are now considering boycotting the Clasico. This is the latest escalation in an ongoing feud between Real Madrid and Spanish football authorities, with the club cancelling all media commitments ahead of the final in protest against Bengoetxea’s interview.

Earlier this season, Real Madrid filed an official complaint against La Liga referees, prompting La Liga president Javier Tebas to accuse the club of “losing its mind.”
