Hours before the highly anticipated clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Manuel Neuer addressed the press with the assurance of a veteran. Calm but determined, the German goalkeeper was keen to stress that his team is approaching the match without fear, while acknowledging the quality of the reigning European champions.
“We love these big occasions”, he said. “PSG is a complete team, with a solid collective and individuals capable of making the difference. They deserve their status as champions.” The Bavarian keeper, impressed by Paris’s attacking power, nevertheless pointed out the main danger coming from the French capital: “Their attack is their greatest strength. They’re quick, play with precision and can score at any time.“
At 39, Neuer’s thirst for competition remains intact. Aware of the difficulty of the task, he insists that Bayern will arrive in Paris with a steely mentality and meticulous preparation. Between caution and ambition, the Bayern captain sets the tone for a duel that already promises to be electric.
