Champions League: Real Madrid defeats Inter 2-1 at the Bernabéu
Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan 2-1 on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabéu. Kylian Mbappé and Federico Valverde scored for the Madrid side before Carlos Augusto's consolation goal.

Real Madrid kicked off their 2026-2027 Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory against Inter Milan on Tuesday, September 8, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Federico Valverde doubled Madrid’s lead in the 23rd. Two quick goals allowed Real to take control of the scoreboard from the first half.
Inter came back into the match after the break and reduced the gap through Carlos Augusto in the 77th minute. The Italians then tried to snatch an equalizer but were unable to beat Thibaut Courtois a second time.
Real Madrid thus secures its first three points in the group stage for José Mourinho’s European return to the Madrid bench.
This victory allows the Merengues to start their campaign without a misstep, a campaign that will see them face Arsenal, Roma, and Leipzig again during the league phase.
