The group stages of the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations continued on Wednesday night with two matches across Moroccan cities. In Rabat, Morocco took on the Democratic Republic of Congo in a pivotal match for both teams. A fiercely contested duel that eventually went in favor of the Atlas Lionesses. The Moroccan women indeed won by a score of 4-2 with a hat trick from captain Ghizlane Chebbak.

With this well-deserved success, Morocco revives its tournament and even takes over the leadership in Group A with four points. The Democratic Republic of Congo, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the group with zero points.

Senegal delays its qualification for the quarter-finals

The other match of the day pitted Senegal against Zambia. Having defeated the Congolese in the first round, the Lionesses of Teranga had to win to secure their ticket to the second round. The Copper Queens, on the other hand, were aiming for the full three points to get back on track.

At the final whistle, it was Zambia who won the match by a score of 3-2. Trailing at the start of the match, the Copper Queens caught up and ended up prevailing over the Lionesses of Teranga who might regret letting it slip.

With this crucial victory, Zambia moves up to second place with four points, ahead of Senegal, which is third with three points.
