Before his peers, the new President of the National Assembly framed his mandate around responsibility, institutional continuity, and service to the Nation.

From the outset of his remarks, Joseph Fifamè Djogbénou expressed, on behalf of all the deputies, heartfelt appreciation to the Beninese people. He lauded the trust placed in elected representatives to carry the voice of the Nation and defend its interests in all their diversity, noting that this trust is both an honor and an obligation.

The President of the National Assembly then voiced his thanks to the deputies for the confidence placed in the newly elected Parliamentary Bureau. He also paid tribute to the oldest member and to the members of the Senior Members’ Bureau for guiding with rigor and serenity the installation of the tenth Legislature and the election of the Bureau.

Addressing the political and institutional context, Joseph Fifamè Djogbénou recalled that this new legislature opens in a national, regional and international environment marked by intense competition and multidimensional challenges. According to him, the role of the legislative power is central to supporting ongoing transformations and helping to create the conditions for sustainable and inclusive development for the benefit of all citizens.

In this dynamic, he expressed the collective gratitude of all the deputies to President Patrice Talon for the reforms undertaken and the vision carried for several years. He praised the courage, steadfastness, and rigor of the government’s action, saying that these structural choices today enable Benin to strengthen its credibility and its standing on the international stage.

The new President of the Parliament did not fail to broaden his message to political and civil forces. He thanked President Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, the leaders of the Bloc Républicain and the Union Progressiste Le Renouveau, as well as the activists and citizens who contributed to the electoral process and to the establishment of the institutions.

For him, national representation is the result of a collective effort in service of the Republic. In conclusion, Joseph Fifamè Djogbénou gave special thought to Beninese women and men who are daily involved in protecting the country, in health care, in economic production, and in preserving social cohesion. He also expressed solidarity with those going through difficult moments, affirming Parliament’s willingness to act to ease suffering, whatever its origin.

Casting the tenth Legislature under the sign of faith and the heritage of ancestors, the President of the National Assembly concluded his speech with a call to unity, engagement, and a high sense of the general interest, making a clear wish: that God protect Benin.
