A dignitary of the Thron Kpéto Déka deity is facing severe sanctions in Dassa-Zoumé, in the Collines department. The decision follows a case that has sparked strong reactions within the community and among the leaders of this traditional faith.

According to reports, the Hounongan is accused of having had intimate relations with one of his followers, who is married. Alerted to the facts, the traditional authorities initiated an investigation which reportedly established the responsibilities of the accused.

As a result of these proceedings, the King of Dassa-Zoumé decided to take disciplinary measures against him. Among the sanctions imposed are the prohibition from exercising his religious functions as well as the temporary closure of his convent.

The case was later examined by the National High Council of Thron. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, the president of the institution, Hounongan Ahossou, accompanied by his collaborators, visited the royal palace of Dassa-Zoumé to familiarize himself with the conclusions of the case and confirm the decisions made.

The leaders of Thron believe that such behavior contradicts the moral and spiritual values upheld by the community. They state their intention to preserve the image and integrity of the organization by sanctioning any deviation that could tarnish its reputation.

According to religious authorities, other measures, including spiritual and traditional ones, could be taken in the coming days.
